A stunning village - for anyone interested in architecture it is worth taking the time to stroll the wide boulevards and check out the incredible houses, each different from the other. The beach is close by with a long paved promenade, deckchairs and many facilities. De Haan is a quiet and very picturesque town on the coast. The beach area is vast and deep; there is space for everyone and every activity. There are many offerings for every kind of tourist; sitting on the beach, walking, cycling, reading, etc….. Brugge is not far away for a day trip. Lovely sandy beachside town, friendly locals, great public transport especially the tram so easy to get to Ostend & Knokke-Heist. Fabulous bakeries !! We've been in the summer and winter as we have family living here. De Haan was lovely. It seems to be an upmarket seaside town. I imagine it would look amazing in the summer, although with the Christmas lights it was magical at this time of year. Not many options for restaurants and most were very expensive. Lovely beach, really wide and long. Great supermarket (Delhaize) for self catering. Easy transport along the coast using the tram. Very pretty and clean., tasteful resort. All low rise buildings. Great that the tram runs the length of the Belgian coast line. Lots of opportunities for cycling, walking. If you ask Sabine can bake you an egg. As a dessert fresh fruit salade and home made jam. Also home made cake is available during the day. The location is great, close by Brugge and only 1 hoir drive to Lille France. If you want to make a trip to there. De Haan city is a charming small city. Doux Foyer has an excellent location, very close to the tram station and a good local supermarket, with just a ten minute walk to the beach. We were in the top floor studio on the second floor, so probably wouldn't be ideal for anyone with mobility issues. The open plan studio is ideal for a couple and has a good range of equipment.
