A tasteful mix of the very old and the very modern. The old city is beautiful and fascinating. The open spaces and water features very attractive. Historical sites are easily accessible a well looked after. Some require a bit of a climb so be prepared for that. The restaurants are varied and the food we tried all good. Some of the waiting staff need a little more training such as asking if you're finished with a dish or a drink before removing it! Plovdiv is a beautiful place and full of great people and wonderful places to visit. The only issue I found is not many people speak English especially the older generation. An interesting city with lots of history. Most of what tourists would like to see is contained within a relatively small area, but be warned there is a bit of climbing.
