Zlatograd is an undiscovered gem of a town up in the Eastern Rhodope Mountains of Southeastern Bulgaria, a few kilometers north of the Greek border. It has a nice old town with an Ethnographic Museum complex, old style Balkan architecture, and its new town is pleasant, too. Amazing place: the Koprivštica (Копривщица) of the Rhodopi is a great source of historical culture and of special food ( as the hot bread you can buy on the road to the Ethnographic Park) and drinks ( the traditional old style coffee) .
