Great city, very friendly.
Great city, very friendly. The city was effectively rebuilt after the floods in 2010. The colonial style architecture is maintained and the houses painted in vibrant colours. The museum Oswaldo Cruz is worth a visit, and there is a shop/ museum in the centre that displays artefacts from slavery. A sharp reminder of the brutality of slavery in Brazil.
