Being close to the harbour is the only way we could imagine visiting Halifax. The harbour is so lively and walkable that we did not use our car for the 3 days. There are lots of interesting sights nearby if you choose to drive or take tours.

If you need a rental car out of the airport it is common they run out of cars. This caused huge problems for us and had to use alternative services. If same happens to you try Turo in Halifax. People rent their cars through the service.

    What an absolute mess!

What an absolute mess! If you plan on staying in one spot, enjoy Halifax! If you plan on travelling around the city, plan for an entire day just for the drive. My hotel was only 9 kms from my event and it took 30 minutes each way. Construction at every turn. Heavy traffic. Not sure about the sites .. couldn't get past the brake lights!

Halifax is a great city to explore, lots of historical areas, restaurants and shops. An amazing boardwalk to explore. Restaurants to try: Five Fishermen, Millstone, Wooden Monkey, and Evan's Seafood. Ferry to and from Dartmouth to Halifax, very handy. Great villages to visit: Peggy's Cove, Hubbard (eat at Tuna Blue), Chester, Lundenberg has amazing shops, distilleruea to check out and restaurants) and Oak Island Tour (yes the one with the TV show that searches for treasure. 13th season being filmed).

Three days in Halifax is plenty.

Three days in Halifax is plenty. I recommend going out of Halifax to the North and explore the Cabot trail. Keep in mind that it is remote in some places and make sure you have dinner before 6:00 pm or you can find yourselves without it,

We've stayed at the Hollis several times when visiting Halifax. We really like the large suites and have used them for visiting with family during our stays. We also enjoy being so close to the harbour and to the downtown restaurants and bars. We have also found the staff and service to be very helpful. The Hollis is one of our favourite places to stay downtown Halifax!

The location was great! Very close to all sorts of fun stuff to do and connected directly to Scotia Square, which was great for meals. Waterfront is within walking distance and downtown is a short drive away. The beds were fairly comfortable, and the room was spacious. The hotel's restaurant was very good. Staff were friendly and easy to talk to.

The room was fine - my family members all had a really large room with one bed. I shared with a friend with two beds and the room was rather small. Bathroom was spacious. Location is great and easy to get to things downtown Halifax.

It was very clean and modern, which suprised me for the age of the hotel. I was on tge 10th floor and I loved the view as well. The staff were friendly. The pool area was large and relaxing. It was a good walking distance to downtown.
