Kamloops isn't the regular stopping point for many.
Kamloops isn't the regular stopping point for many. We made use of the various walks, the Kenna Cartwright park had a fabulous ridge walk. We ate in the Noble Pig, walkable from the accommodation and well worth the visit. Kamloops lake is very popular if you have a boat or like fishing. It is a town of many sports, we even found a "horseshoe" court! Wild deer came into town to eat the overflowing vegetables at the community gardens. We really enjoyed the Secwepemc Museum.
We really enjoyed the Secwepemc Museum. It was a little complicated to find and the museum is not big but well presented and organized and easy to navigate. The stories of the culture of the Secwepemc people, government involvement, and the boarding school were all well told and illustrated. I am originally from Kamloops. It was good to be home again! We were visiting family so we didnt go anywhere special, but I recommend going to Riverside Park. More to see and do that we realised. Only stayed for one night (arriving early evening and leaving first thing) on the journey from Vancouver to Banff.
