We had never visited this part of Lake Huron before.
We had never visited this part of Lake Huron before. The beaches were lovely, but anyone with accessibility issues would find it difficult to get through the sand. We liked the friendliness of the people, and their helpfulness. One suggested we drive down to another beach that had a boat launch area where I could drive down to the water, let my partner off with a chair and beach necessities, and then go and park elsewhere. It worked well (Ipperwash Beach). We ate at McPherson's -- wonderful local restaurant, bakery, and gas station in Port Franks. It's very easy to get around this area, although we got lost a few times searching for Twin Lakes Cidery (on a very back country road) but it was worth finding! We would try to stay in a more fully equipped cottage next time. Still, the area is lovely and a huge change from the crowding at Grand Bend and Bayfield.
