FAQs about hotels in Vancouver

Outstanding Capital of the Outdoors

An outdoorsy city ranking among the world’s most livable, Vancouver is sheltered by Vancouver Island and the Pacific Range mountains. The most famous peak, Grouse Mountain is a favourite spot for hiking and skiing. Take the cable car up for magnificent views of the city's skyscrapers and huge Stanley Park.

Skirting this park is the Seawall, a popular biking trail with paths passing the Vancouver Aquarium, picnic spots and a pitch ‘n’ putt course. There are also a couple of beaches, but the best ones are along English Bay in Kitsilano.

Granville Island is just across False Creek from Yaletown and houses some quirky shops and markets. Ferries depart from here to near BC Place Stadium and home ground of the city’s football and American football teams. The legendary Vancouver Canucks ice hockey team play next door at Rogers Arena.

With the largest Chinatown in North America, Gastown is the oldest part of Vancouver and is near the Canada Place cruise ship terminal.

We could go on and on about British Columbia’s largest city and never do it justice, so why not try it for yourself? Booking.com has a fabulous range of accommodation, from hotels near Vancouver Airport in Richmond to downtown B&Bs and motels near each of its ferry ports.

This is officially my favorite city in Canada.

This is officially my favorite city in Canada. I loved it so much, I am thinking of moving there after this visit. The weather, the scenery, the people, the amount of things to do (I could go on...) were all fantastic. Indeed, it is expensive, but well worth it!

Vancouver is beautiful and has a lot to experience and you need a full week to enjoy it. People have been really friendly and helpful. It is important being mobile and have a car so you can visit most of the places as everything requires at least 30 minutes to an hour of travel and transport is expensive and difficult to navigate. Be prepared with a good budget as everything is quite expensive and the cost gets worse if you have a unfavorable exchange rate.

We enjoyed generally our stay in Vancouver , visiting Stanley Park, Granville Island , Whistler and Queen Elisabeth Park. Everyone we interacted with was kind and helpful, Canadians from Vancouver are nice people. We loved staying on the upper east side around Mt Pleasant, but we moved downtown for a few days. The walk from our Apartment in Keefer Street in the city to Gastown was like walking through the movie set of "The Walking Dead" , and I am not even exaggerating. Something needs to be done to break up that homeless enclave down there, and who decided to decriminalize using life wrecking drugs like Crystal Meth ?

The hotel rates are exceedingly high.

The hotel rates are exceedingly high. Hotel taxes add considerably to the cost. This will chase away visitors. There is a limit to what people will pay for a vacation. Unfortunately this note will end up in the trash and go no where...

Vancouver is a beautiful, vibrant city.

Vancouver is a beautiful, vibrant city. We felt safe at all times. The waterfront & Stanley Park were great for walking. We rented a car and drove up to Squamish & Whistler for a day. The mountains are spectacular. The subway is clean and accessible and it is worth taking the ferry over to North Vancouver. The Hop on-hop off bus is another great way to see the city and visit the sites.

Used to live in Vancouver a while back, great city.

Used to live in Vancouver a while back, great city. Check out Ground For Coffee and get a iced cinnamon roll(s) and coffee, Kitsalino shops West 4, Robson St, BC stadium to get Vancouver Canucks stuff, and the Ukrainian Village Resturant, 815 Denman. Not a flashy restaurant, but to do for food!

This is a particularly well maintained and comfortable hotel in the Gastown area of Vancouver.  The staff are friendly and helpful, particularly Sandeep, who sorted a small issue that that we had.  The rooms are clean, well appointed and comfortable.  I did find the air conditioner a bit noisy, but other than that, I cannot fault our room.  We had a nice big bed and probably the best shower we had on this trip. There is no restaurant or breakfast available, you may want to consider this but there are loads of coffee shops in the area.

We stayed at Hotel Barclays in Vancouver for two nights and had a very pleasant experience. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and while the decor wasn’t too modern, everything was well-maintained and perfectly fine. The location was great—close to the city and the waterfront, with a bus stop right in front of the hotel. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.

I love that this hotel is non-profit. It's in an amazing location, the room we stayed in overlooked BC place and the view is fantastic. There's lots of food and stuff to do around. I'll always book here from now on if I need to stay downtown Vancouver! The staff are friendly and like to chat. Thanks for the nice experience!

I checked in late in the evening so I didn't get to spend as much time at the hotel as I normally would have. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The shuttle back to the airport the following morning was great. If we need to stay overnight in Vancouver again, I'll will definitely consider this place.

Very nice hotel, in a great part of Vancouver. Definitely recommend. Close to fun Robson Street and the waterfront. All in walking distance. The room (suite) was great: living, kitchen en separate bedroom.
