This is a walkable city, with great neighborhoods and restaurants. This was also one place where we could mingle with local residents and learn to chat in German briefly. Very nice hotel with just 8 rooms, so well maintained. Staff were exceptional and everything about the room was great. Location is perfect for walking the old town and along the river. Super close to the rail/bus station with easy access to northern Switzerland and into Germany. Several grocery stores (Co-op's) within a few minutes walk. Nice restaurants and shopping. Even without visiting some of the attractions (IWC Museum, Museum Allerheiligen), Schaffhausen is worth the stay. The sceneries from the Munot and of the Rheinfall are magnificent. It is right next to the station and road, but it has very good soundproofing, so it is very quiet in the room. Also the road has limited traffic, so it is not very noisy outside.
