Great town great beach.
Great town great beach. Good supermarkets and friendly people in general. We met some locals through some friends and we were made to feel at home quite quickly. Nice place. Go to the Burger Window, (Google it) its in an open bar which has a few other eating stalls as well. A great curry shack too. But the burgers at Burger Window really are SUPERB. The service is quite non committal. There are few smiles and you can get put off by that. But listen, the burgers are worth the grief. Also try the crepes both savory and sweet at the little Ahora Si shop and then try the big Ahora Si restaurant further up the street. Both owned by the same family. Both very good choices. Samara is a very cool, beachy surf village.
Samara is a very cool, beachy surf village. The locals are very friendly and welcoming. There are several gorgeous beaches in very close proximity. My favs were Samara and Carillo. Roots in an incredible bakery and there are many yummy restaurants to dine at. We loved Samara.
We loved Samara. It's a small town of only about 3,000 permanent residents. We LOVED the beach. It was perfect. It was clean and safe and peaceful and there isn't anybody walking up and down trying to sell you anything. The town is small but friendly and lovely; plenty of restaurants to check out, live music to hear, ice cream treats, great Sushi in town, grocery store, cheese & sausage store, etc. We went to Limey's twice for the great food and live music:) We could live here; we didn't want to leave:)Guest review byFarrellUnited States - 10.0
We like the beach at Samara because there is a reef...
We like the beach at Samara because there is a reef protecting the bay, so it is safe to swim for everyone in the family. The beach is clean and nice sand for walking. Samara is wonderful.
Samara is wonderful. It's a touristy beach town, but a very low-key one. The beach was never terribly crowded, the restaurants were never very crowded, and it was not full of obnoxious, loud partiers. Just a laid-back place full of friendly people.Guest review byAnonymousUnited States - 8.0
Very laid back small village.
Very laid back small village. Tourists were very chill during my month long stay. Food at sodas and restaurants was very tasty. Do not expect resort type accomodations. A true surfer would go elsewhere but I saw many people getting their first rides here. Everything is walkable. I attended Intercultura Spanish Immersion School for 4 weeks. Special thanks to Laura and Karina in reception who were so helpful. Breakfast was great and serving staff also lovely. Pool was nice for a cool down and loungers always available. Pool towels free 1st day and $1 per day to change if wanted. Hotel is in town with beach, shops, bars and restaurants close by. Great location, though nothing is far in Samara. Any request I had was immediately accommodated, Andre even got me some bug spray from Samara. They took me to the white sand beach, Rainer showed me the aloe vera when I had too much sun and even dropped me off for my next location. My room was beautiful, the best shower I've had in Costa Rica! The restaurant is very comfortable for hanging out, and the food is incredible. I can go on and on. Amazing hosts, thank you so much. We have stayed Casa Maiana for many years under prior and found the new owners Thierry and Christina to be gracious, welcoming and available to answer any questions you have. Casa Maiana is perfectly located for discovering Samara on foot - close to the beach, restaurants, cafes and supermarkets but off the beaten path and quiet.
