Flensburg is a hidden gem, especially for Americans. We were told many times that they don't see many Americans in Flensburg, and for us we liked that. The people are very friendly and welcoming. Our first visit to this interesting town. It was lovely looking at the courtyards along Roter Straße & strolling through the pedestrian area & alongside the harbour. Unfortunately, the main street is dirty, rubbish everywhere, front gardens mainly not maintenanced. But where we had dinner it was a big open plaza had open air concert -good atmosphere and bins everywhere alongside security staffs... So sad that we only stayed for one night. The city is very lovely and people are very friendly where we had breakfast and late lunch. The fishing harbour is very authentic, we learned a lot about the history etc. If we stayed longer, we would've walk farther to the other side of the bay and go to the beach, but it's an excuse to come back visiting this city.Guest review byGHapsariFrance - 10.0

Our visit was timed around a performance at the Theatre which we particularly wanted to see. Besides that, we found the art museum’s current exhibition well chosen. The town is compact, full of variety, offers plenty of restaurants and unusual boutiques. A pleasant, international atmosphere. Would definitely recommend :) That being said, it does help that we knew what we signed up for in advance, if we had come expecting hyper-modern amenities in said older historical villa, that would have lead to a more negative experience. The breakfast is amazing, there is anything you can wish for. We tried some of different restaurants and were very pleased with all the food and wine in general.
