FAQs about hotels in Münster

Germany's Bicycle Capital

Residents of Münster have pride in their city having completely rebuilt its medieval centre after the devastation caused during World War II. This resourcefulness is reinforced by its large student population attending the University of Münster and the many bicycle tracks that make it the bike capital of Germany.

Start your tour at St.Paul’s Cathedral in Domplatz that features an astronomical clock dating back to 1540. Not far away is the Prinzipalmarkt with its 14th-century town hall. St. Lambert’s Church suspends 3 cages from its tower which were used to display the bodies of leaders from the Münster Rebellion.

A favourite pastime for locals is to sit on the banks of Aasee lake or you can hire a bike and explore the countryside of the Westphalia region. The university is set in the botanical garden and includes the Baroque-style Schloss (palace) as its administration centre.

Munster is a wonderful University /Cathedral town.

Munster is a wonderful University /Cathedral town. Re built after the war it has been restored to its original façade. The old cobbled streets bars and shopping create a relaxing place to explore. There is a good mix of modern and heritage combined with a wealth of history. It is slightly off the beaten track but a visit is well worthwhile. I had the biggest pizza in a restaurant close to the station and the atmosphere is second to none at night.

We loved the city, pretty and interesting, amazing to experience the amazing network of cycle paths around city on the beautiful tree lined promenade and out of city with pretty route along Dortmund Ems canal. The city has a lovely relaxed and calm vibe still with plenty going on.

Lovely town/city, wonderful market on Wednesday , good cafe/restaurant by the Aasee. Careful where we parked due to the emissions regulations even though we did have the correct car windscreen sticker. Would go again.

We loved the zoo because kids loved feeding the animals especially the elephant and the parrots. We went last two hours of closing time and we got a discount. The aasee lake was beautiful, spent time on the lake soaking up the sunshine and then went paddling on the boat, family of 5. There were a few halah places which we like Norsee, belchicken, Vivaldi, which was a halah Italian restaurant, great delicious food. Took the public transport everywhere, buses, trains and taxis. Great all day tickets for 2 adults and 3 children for €14 euros.

Beautiful city with lots of splendid architecture to view and admire. The centre is full of higher end shops - if you exclude the obligatory Maccies but even they have had to alter their standard design to fit in. City Centre is a LEZ and although motorised vehicles are allowed in they are vastly outnumbered by cyclists making you think you could be in a Dutch or Danish city rather than in Germany. You can explore the whole central area on foot without getting worn out as the distances are short and there are many places to stop for a bit of light refreshment. Coffee shops seem to outnumber the dining restaurants but there are places to get a full meal at a reasonable cost. Cathedral is beautiful and unlike many in the UK doesn't charge an admission fee - there are of course donation points inside and we were happy to put some money in the box.

Great location, friendly and helpful staff, clean and modern room. It's quite bare but as a hostel (rather than a hotel) it more than met my needs for a two-night stay. Free access to lockers in the entrance where I could store my luggage after check-out, with padlock provided by staff. It's nothing fancy, but if you just need a place to crash during a visit to Munster, it's all you need.

I would recommend this hotel, especially for solo travellers, I have no experience of more than one ! The location is perfect: in the heart of the old city with bars, restaurants and even supermarkets close by. The staff are wonderful - friendly, welcoming and helpful. I did a whistle-stop of Germany and this hotel stood in my memory as the best.

The room was nicely decorated and bed comfy. The tiny kitchen has pretty much everything you need for a short stay, also tea and coffee making facilities. The location is good, with a short walking distance to old town, shops, restaurants etc. Baby bed and high chair (cleanest we saw in Germany 😀) were also available.
