A quaint little town with an artist's flair.
A quaint little town with an artist's flair. The Passiontheater is definitely worth a visit, the walk down through the streets visiting artisans and shops is such a treat. Don't miss St. Peter and Paul church. We had planned to visit the Alpine coaster but spent too much time just walking around the town. We even stopped, out of curiosity, to eat at a Mexican restaurant. It was pretty good! If you're looking for the quintessential Bavarian mountain village to spend a week or two (or even a few days), Oberammergau is your place. The village has a unique history and so picturesque. This privately run hotel is probably the loveliest place to stay. We had a delightful full room with a balcony overlooking mountains. It was wonderful to see the crystal clear night sky without ‘light pollution’ and to breathe the freshest air. The hostess was amazing , providing a great breakfast and spoke good English.
