    Ratingen has nice historic center with few restaurants and church in the middle. Overall, it is calm, but this area is populated mostly by industrial companies, warehouses, etc. Getting there is pretty hard from Dusseldorf, since buses are not going that often and you usually travel for around 45 minutes to 1 hour there. Trams are available which are the best way of transport from Ratingen to Dusseldorf.

    We needed a place close to the airport to sleep over for an early flight. The room met our needs, was clean and comfortable and had lovely restaurants in the area where we could have dinner. Check in and out was effortless.

    Great suburb of Dusseldorf with affordable hotels and a very good and and cheap connection to Dusseldorf city center. Just take the U72 from Ratingen Mitte to Düsseldorf Hellriegelstraße. Get out at the Düsseldorf Heinrich-Heine-Allee to be in the middle of the Altstadt & Konigsallee. Single trip for an adult is 2,80.

    The hotel itself has a very nice atmosphere about it - it's somewhat rustic or retro, in a very nice and cozy way - wooden floors, small building, yet it feels modern where it should be. The parking lot is huge, so you'll have no problem finding a place, and it's easy to get to Düsseldorf from there. There are also some restaurants around, so you can get some food easily, if you're feeling peckish.

    I was only one person so the room was small but it's adequately enough for my single stay. Bed is comfortable, bathroom is clean and useful. The qty of charger point, laptop area and free Wifi is quite good. Close to city centre which is good for the one expecting a little sideview. Also, when you cross the street, you could find a cheap market which means you could reach anything you want easily.

    Beautiful hotel in a perfect location. The hotel is just a few meters away from the bus and train station. It's very close to shops where you can pick few things and cook by yourself at the apartment in the hotel. I booked for 1 room and 1 apartment for my kids and we really had a good time staying at Hotel Barbarossa. I use the hotel again when next I am in Düsseldorf or around Ratingen.
