This historic city is known for its architecture and friendly people. The local food is delicious and very reasonably priced both in the markets and in the restaurants. Taxis are metered and very inexpensive. You will be surrounded by mountains and fascinated by the four rivers that flow through the city.

    We love Cuenca.

We love Cuenca. Certainly Ecuador's most beautiful large city. Best city for fine dining in Ecuador. Beautiful colonial architecture. Beautiful public parks and gardens. Easy to get around. Friendly people.

I love this city. Its reasonably clean, and safe.

I love this city. Its reasonably clean, and safe. There is so much to do and people are very friendly. We travelled in August, and it was a little cold for me. But I am one of those who is always cold so some may like this temperature. It rained a little almost every day. But it just added to the charm. Our hotel had a glass roof courtyard, so it was very pretty. I work remotely so it worked for me as I could adjust my time out accordingly. I would definitely recommend Cuenca to anyone. I plan to write a blog on places to visit and stay and eat and also post on social media if you want to check it out - TravelzByU

This is our third visit to Cuenca.

This is our third visit to Cuenca. We love the city and have made several friends here. The food is incredible, the people cheerful and welcoming. It's not hard to navigate, but if you don't like hills, maybe better take taxis, which are not expensive. Apartments are not (as they are in some places) outlandishly expensive - the rents run from very inexpensive to luxury-level expensive. There is plenty to do, much to see and excursions are easily arranged. If you visit here and don't come away with friends, you must've never left your room!

There is a lot of things to do in Cuenca for such a small city, its culture, safety, people, everything is very oriented to tourists so whoever visits the city falls in love instantly. If you plan to visit Cuenca, I´d recommend at least 4 days, add more day for better results.

I have fallen in love with Cuenca.

I have fallen in love with Cuenca. I loved walking everywhere, and if I needed to take public transportation, it is plentiful and affordable. The people are kind and respectful. The city is rather quiet and not chaotic, with lots of things to see. The 4 rivers that cross it freshen the air, and the city smells good. There are restaurants from around the world, and one could be in nature in no time if one wants to explore the mountains all around.

The hotel is called Hotel Balcon del Arte. The entrance is set back from the street. I arrived late and was let in by the nightwatchman and given my room key directly. My street facing room was lovely. Large, clean and a comfortable bed. The bathroom was functional and clean. The shower was not always hot. Good wi-fi signal. Situated centrally, it was an easy walk to restaurants, shops and museums. The ladies who were on reception were friendly and helpful. Good value for money.

The hotel was a really nice hotel, very centrally located in Curnca, nicely decorated, very friendly and helpful staff all the way around, an excellent breakfast, very comfortable bed, and quiet when it needed to be. We had a junior suite, which was extremely comfortable. Lots of room, a nice bathroom, and an upstairs sitting room right next to our room, which became our Living Room. If you’re going to stay in Cuenca, this is a perfect place to do it.
