Alcoy seems to be an interesting place.
Alcoy seems to be an interesting place. It is not huge, so it is easy to walk around. There are many cafes, bars and restaurants. However, we did find it difficult to find vegetarian options around the town, so we ended up having dinner at a shopping mall in a chain restaurant. A really tasy veggie burger though! The local scenery is stunning. I would recommend a drive to Font Roja just to appreciate the local lanscape and enjoy some walking routes. A very traditional and authentic Spanish town without the usual tourist trappings you find in many of the coastal regions of Spain. Moderately interesting historic sector.
Moderately interesting historic sector. We were amazed at the number of restaurants closed and the lack of eating places generally. It was out of season but even those premises that were open were not serving meals, only sandwiches/baguettes. Had to eat in hotel one night - only had menu del dia with no alternatives. Managed to find a cafe that did great tapas second night and made do with that. Town is quirky in the topography which takes a bit of getting used to. Good for photos of bridges and surrounding mountains. Font Roja Natural Parc was lovely but even there the restaurant was closed and no cafe.Guest review byGeoffreyUnited Kingdom
