Caceres is well worth a trip.Theres lots to see and much atmosphere to soak up.Nice friendly city/town with many nearby places worth a visit such as Truillo and Guadalupe......Actually the historic architecture in both Caceres and Truillo is something to write home about!..If your into nature there are literally scores of square Kms of wild flowers in the surrounding countryside thanks to light touch farming practises and this brings many insects which in turn bring many birds and other creatures...Definitely worth a trip is the national park in Monfrague so youll need to hire a car to get the best of that type of thing.Guest review bymichaelIreland - 8.0

Spain at Easter time is generally complicated. But even so, we managed to book restaurants without any major problems and visit the main attractions. Cáceres is one of the most beautiful cities in Spain (and I say this as someone who has seen many), with a fantastic historic center and lots to see, including in the surrounding area — Mérida, Cáceres, Trujillo, Los Barruecos... A city rich with history and beauty - and worth the time of...
A city rich with history and beauty - and worth the time of a few weeks to explore. Expect to climb hills as you wander the narrow streets and steep steps around the old town. The historic centre is beautiful and interesting. The rest of the town is sadly shabby and in need of considerable investment. We lucked out on seeing the incredible festivities welcoming in Semana Santa. Fantastic enthusiasm by all and wonderful community spirit. Great to see both young and older people involved. Cáceres was a bit disappointing.
Cáceres was a bit disappointing. The old walled city was interesting and beautiful but only takes a few hours to go through. Thankfully our hotel was right next to that and the area close by had nice cafes and shops. The rest of the city didn't look very interesting. The main reason to stay here, probably, is the Roman ruins in Merida which are amazing. The town of Merida is.... not impressive until you realize it's over 2000 years old and there are Roman ruins all over the place. Nice modern art museum, great old town. Shopping: perrunillas (cookies) at ISABEL at plaza mayor , torta del casar (cheese) everywhere. Awesome antique /vintage/2nd hand bookshop mainly with Spanish titles BOXOYO. Trendy fashion : la Singular, Miren (very affordable). Design & illustration: el Chaflan (affordable) Beautiful bookshop: La Puerta de Tannhäuser . Great food for value: taperia Yuste (great location, as well) and 8arte taperia restaurante. Which probably sums up my feelings about the place. Beautifully located (although parking can sometimes be an issue) right in the middle of this fabulous little city, on the edge of the medieval 'old town', Don Carlos is a characterful and comfortable reflection of Cáceres itself.
