    Beautiful fishing town with great bars and restaurants. Second visit here and can't wait to come back. 2hr drive for us from Orihuela Costa but well more the trip. Find hostel Loretto and you'll be on one of the most beautiful streets in the town. Has history, great walks, great food and a must is a visit to the Magazines which is a small street with pop up eateries and bars. Very spanish and idyllic.

    Town pretty, bars, restaurants choices, marina nice with good restaurants, surrounding area very pretty, orange orchards and quaint villages, mountains stunning. If English speakers, learn some Spanish as not widely spoken, we learned minimal but made an effort, seemed to appreciated for efforts.

    Denia is a relaxed port town, with ferries to the Balearics and a marina for the super-rich. It is not too large and has a certain, quiet charm. The old town around the foot of the castle was damaged by Germans and Italian bombardment during the fascist war, but retains an original feel and remains attractive. The centre is easy to walk around, and pedestrianisation leads to a comfortable feel. It is on the British tourist trail with some restaurants aimed only at tourists with menus in two languages, and there are too many Irish bars. However, unlike the tourist excesses of Benidorm and other areas not far to the south, this is a Spanish town and not overwhelmed by cheap, tasteless UK tourism associated with the concrete Costas. It would be a comfortable place for a stop-over for a couple of nights, particularly when it is not high season. Walking around in the cool of the morning through the street markets and the central covered market is much calmer and more interesting than the rather predictable and manufactured night-life.

    We have stayed in and around Denia for nearly 30 years and find the town and its surroundings are very pleasant. It is also a good base for a relaxing holiday, combined with trips nearby. For instance, the castle in Denia is very pleasant with a nice cafe at the top - most welcome on a hot day. The antiques market at Xalo in the mountains is well worth a visit on a Saturday morning, but worth getting there early before the parking fills up. The castle at Xativa is also well worth a visit. Shopping in Denia and Ondara is excellent and there are many restaurants to choose from in Denia itself. We found this particularly encouraging, coming from the UK where the catering industry is having a tough time. In Spain it appears this sector is vibrant, and such great value!

    We are regular visitors to Denia and like the variety of restaurants, easy access to shops and beaches. Recommended areas for restaurants are Marquesa de Campo and Bellavista; also the Marina de Denia. The only negative point for this visit was the unusually hot weather, which limited our walking and sunbathing opportunities!

    We loved Denia, lots to see and do.

    We loved Denia, lots to see and do. Great food and beaches and very laid-back. We really didn't find very many people who spoke English nor never ran into any other Americans. It also wasn't crowded in late May, early June, so a good time to go.

    The apartment was small as it was on pictures, but had all you needed and more than you think it would have. Being traveling in Spain for three months and this was the best bed in the whole journey and it was a sofabed! Rosa is full of heart and you can not get better hostess! She even brought me breakfast and there was so much that I was still eating it at the evening! The sun was shining on the balcony for the almost all day.

    The location is fantastic. The Hostal is just outside the lovely town of Denia, about a 15-minute walk to the centre. The best thing is that the Hostal is right on the beach, a 30-second walk and you are there. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was very good and the facilities were fine (It is just a 1-star hostal after all).

    Excellent location: city center, close to the fortress, food, shopping areas. It takes about 12- 15 minutes to get to the beach: the best way is through the tunnel. The hotel itself is awesome: ancient ambience, cool, clean.
