Amazing Coastline and Historical Beauty
San Sebastian is a famous beach resort in the north of Spain with picturesque coastline, vibrant nightlife and amazing Basque gastronomy.
Playa de la Concha is one of the world’s most popular city beaches, ideal for watersports lovers. Rent a surfboard on Zurriola beach or just relax on a cosy lounge chair under your umbrella.
Established as the culinary capital of Spain, San Sebastian features a variety of bars and restaurants serving delicious pintxos (Basque-style tapas), fresh seafood and fine wine. According to Spanish tradition, you should have one tapa and a wine in one bar, then move on to the next bar.
The tree-covered hill standing just across the gulf is called Urgull and offers spectacular views over the bay and city. Situated at the bottom of it, Parte Vieja is the old part of the town where you can mix with the locals and visit some of the city’s most interesting historical attractions.

San Sebastian offers a city break with everything. Wonderful Basque culture, beautiful architecture, wonderful local food and wine, great shopping and access to beautiful beaches. Seemed like a city break with 3 lovely beaches to pick from when the weather was nice which is not everyday. great architecture on the buildings too. This is a lovely place with lots of walking and eating. The food was reasonably to go on its own. The main beach is spectacular and rated as one of the best in the world. We went up both hills at either end of the bay (one via funicular). Great views. We loved the food although we should have paced ourselves better! Lovely town and good connections to other places. Although you suggest that there are great activities for 'young couples like you' we are in our seventies but yes it was good. We mainly walked other than to get to the more remote restaurants. The walking tour is really worth doing because of the history of the place. Donostia is a Basque city and special. Lots of good places to eat - some not the places everyone goes to and which are overcrowded. Transport links are good and you can also book tours. Beautiful city. Lots of places to visit. Great food and people are friendly. Going for a Pintxos and wine tour is a must, and a 10-20 mins hike up to the top of Mt. The old town is beautiful as is the beach. The restaurants great and their food excellent. We visited at the start of the annual festival - without knowing this in advance - and the city was overflowing with people, which made it a little difficult to get around and find parking. The Gros area was a big surprise, full of great restaurants, bars and boutiques. The Hotel it’s self is beautifully designed inside and the rooms are just perfect. Continental breakfast was nice and we enjoyed sunset on the roof top bar. The staff were charming and could not do enough for you.
