Beautiful, quaint home. Quaint on the outside but fully equipped with modern facilities on the inside 10/10. Fresh air, surrounded by beautiful green with horses grazing right outside. All you hear is the sound of cow bells. We were here as a family with grandparents and young children and all loved it. Close enough to Fuente De and hiking trails. Host is based in their hotel property in Espinama but were very helpful and responsive.

Posada de Valdeón is a great little town in a fantastic location. It has far fewer people (though also services) than places like Potes or Cangas, but we much preferred it to the larger places. It's right inside the national park and there are loads of walking trails very nearby. We left the valley a couple of times, but didn't really need to.

Absolutely stunning views of Picos de Europa from the windows! Good pillows. Beautiful grounds. Great and accommodating staff. The menu del dia at lunchtime was absolutely superb! The portions were big, the wine generous, the flavours were sensational and they were also able to let us take some of it away to not waste what they served. The drive down to the end of the road was very epic, with little towns and fantastic hiking opportunities.

    If visiting Fuente De the cable car is a must (dependant on...

    If visiting Fuente De the cable car is a must (dependant on the weather). We took the cable car up then walked all the way back down, approx. 14km. The views from the top and on the walk down are superb. There is a Hotel with a cafe after about 4km to get drinks and food. The walk is not too strenuous as it's mainly down hill although the last section back to Fuente De through the forest is a bit up and down. Overall a great walk, 9 out of 10.

    First time visit to Picos de Europa - which we knew for a...

    First time visit to Picos de Europa - which we knew for a long time - give us a very pleasant encounter with a thru mountain type of landscape and scenery. It is very accessible, thanks to its heights and (obviously) with the cable car lifting you to 1800m in a few minutes :-). Though, the weather wasn't that good when we were there - end of april 2024 - with some light snow and quite foggy. You should prepare and dress accordingly, it's still a mountain environment - and be ready to change your plans. Staying at the Parador de Fuente Dé is a good place to start discovering the Picos de Europa.

    This hamlet is about 90 mins from the autoroute up some...

    This hamlet is about 90 mins from the autoroute up some quite challenging but superb mountainous roads. Beware the 3 or 4 roadworks. The hotel is located right next to the cable car which takes just a few minutes' vertiginous ride to the 1800 metre summit. The weather was good and there was no wind. A busy restaurant and hotel at the top. Great views too. A good stop for hikers, bikers and off-roaders; none of which apply to me.

    Lovely room with a covered in balcony facing the cable car. Lovely friendly staff, we were even escorted to our room. Good breakfast although a little rushed as the hotel was busy and meals were timed! Loved the curtains.

    In Fuente De there are not many alternatives, but service personnel was very good, nice location close to the telecabine, great food.
