We stayed in Getaria as a base to enjoy all of the surrounding areas. It was well situated between towns. We saw a soccer game in Bilbao one night and drove to France the next day. In Getaria you have a wide range of restaurants to choose from, and lively tapas bars , a very good outdoor bar overlooking the harbor . Safe beaches to swim , very clean. An "ok" place to use as a base for day-trips in the Bilbao/San Sebastian area. However, Getaria is a very small village. Other than a beach and restaurants, there's not much to do. Having said that, it is an excellent location as a base to visit the many, many other areas/sites in this Northern Spain area. However, if I was looking for a "home base" I would probably stay in the next town over, Zazautz.Guest review byColorado HikerSpain

Inside it is very modern, clean, an easy walk around the corner to the centre of the old town and worked perfectly for my family of 4. It had a main bedroom, sofa bed for the kids, kitchen & bathroom. We managed to get all day parking a 5 min walk away. It is also a 2 min walk from our favourite restaurant in Getaria - Mayflower!
