Well... Lucena is quite a surprise. It´s quite a historic town with Castle and beautiful Baroque churches. Good shopping and civic centre. Daily indoor market. Lucena is a lovely town - some very good restaurants in the Plaza Nueva and the indoor market has plenty of fresh fruit and veg stalls, fresh fish and a few good butchers as well. Lucena is a wonderful Spanish town.
Lucena is a wonderful Spanish town. You get the real Spanish experience. I'd recommend knowing a bit of Spanish as most people don't speak English. It's a real Spanish town. The drinks are cheap and they come with tapa. It's not like Malaga which is an awesome place but for tourists, that are will to pay for the Spanish experience. In Lucena you get the real Spanish experience. The people are crazy friendly and charming. It's easy to get around, everything is in walking distance. If you want to visit other towns you'd have to rent a car or get a bus, but there is a bus station with regular services to the big cities like Malaga, Grananda, Cordoba, Sevilla etc. There's also blabla car which is a good option to see other places. There are always people passing through Lucena. It's probably not the best place to stay for a long holiday but for a few nights, there is plenty to see and do. There are certain times of year where they have lots going on, parades down the street like in Christmas and Easter.
