Great art museums, a must go for anybody interested in paintings. The Royal Palace was very impressive and enables the viewer to appreciate Spanish history and royalty. Liked the food and drinks scene in Madrid a lot. Lots of restaurants, coffee shops and bars all over the place particularly in Centro. I loved the vibrant atmosphere, the crowd on the streets. Gran Via reminded me our Big Apple, by Times Square! Our fav spots were along Gran Via, but we ventured outside the town, in Segovia . In Madrid, I liked the gardens of the the Temple of Debod, from where I could have a panoramic view of many spots of Madrid. It is very easy to get around Madrid, using Metro, trains and Cercanias (local buses) Almost all of them are interconnected ( wherever you stop at one station with the sign 'correspondent') you can use the same fare. Madrid is easy to move about in by walking. Everything is quite compact. It is very beautiful. We love the menu del dia places to eat at lunchtime they are fantastic value.
