Costa Dorada Thrills and Spills
Like all Costa Dorada resorts, Salou has a fantastic beach and fun watersports. But it’s the wide, palm-lined promenade that really makes it stand out. Boutiques and exclusive restaurants line its western end, while in the east the bay curves to a point where a sculpture leans out to sea. Head there for lovely views of the sandy beach and distant mountains.
Further round the coast towards Cap Salou the beach becomes rocky coves, whilst inland is PortAventura, Spain’s most visited theme park. This huge complex includes rides and rollercoasters in themed zones, and a waterpark with slides, flumes and pools galore. Also here is Lumine, a golf club boasting 2 courses designed by Greg Norman.
Next door is Port Halley shopping centre which also has a 3D cinema and bowling alley. The best shopping in Salou though is in the old town, where designer shops stay open until late.
Other Salou attractions include the dancing Font Illuminosa fountains, Bosc Aventura’s high ropes, and Aquopolis - a great waterpark for younger children. Although the town has plenty of arcades, clubs and bars, peace and quiet can be found.
Reus Airport is the nearest and it’s around 20 minutes’ drive from there to the apartments, B&Bs and hotels in Salou bookable on Booking.com.

For the kids there is a theme park in nearby PortAventura! For the adults, Salou is right next to the Priorat Region; one of the two premier wine regions of Spain. lovely place to visit for families felt very safe there We ate in lots of different restaurants also lovely little places down by the beach at night time to have a drink. We were able to get around -no bother I wish i had got more info about Bus Plana as it seems to be the way to get around for further destinations but maybe next time! We visited the Caribe water park, ferrari land and also rented bikes and cycled to Cambrils which has a bike land all the way and is a lovely short cycle. Salou is overrated.
Salou is overrated. The beach is fine in some parts, but there were cigarette butts in the sand. It's not the city's fault, but the lack of civility on the part of some users. The city should be cleaner, with fewer souvenir shops. Could have better restaurants and bars. They could improve the quality of the services offered.Guest review byELSA - 8.0

We love Salou it has so much to offer for my kids who love...
We love Salou it has so much to offer for my kids who love them parks and water parks. Our hotel was close to the beach, close to PortAventura and close to the water parks. There’s also a good selection of shops and restaurants. You are also close to Barcelona and in previous years we would venture there but have been put off by the anti tourist protests so won’t be going there.Guest review byDanielUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Never had threadbare, hokey towels in a 4 star hotel ever. Room was pretty much okay, but needed some TLC. The staff apart from one weren’t helpful at all, and the daily room clean was featherlight, almost non-existent. In comparison: we arrived in a four star hotel in Valencia today.
