    The whole area is picturesque with the ancient bridge spanning the river. There is a tranquil square to enjoy refreshments and enough restaurants. Since we had eaten ‘Spanish’ we opted for a pizza; recommended restaurant there.

    Just above the town you will find the Abbatissa Hotel and Restaurant, which is an affordable yet extremely pleasant hotel in a lush forest setting with great views over the surrounding mountains. The Abbatissa is run as social project to create jobs for people with disabilities and in vulnerable situations in the region. The food is cheap, generous, and tasty. The service is second to none. There are enough nature walks in the forests around the Abbatissa to justify a stay of several days. If you like mountain biking then this place is heaven.

    We were welcomed by Olga's son Marc and it was great that both spoke English. Marc helped with our heavy luggage. Olga gave great advice on places of interest and was always available via text. The apartment is light and bright. It is also nice to see so many renovations happening in the town. The apartment has a lovely view of the clock tower and mountains and was an easy walk to everything. It was also easy to hike in the beautiful forests all around. We loved our visit to Sant Joan de les Abadesses!!

    Great hotel, lovely staff, good location to visit the region. Cozy room, the bathroom had floor heating which made it great after a full day walking in colder weather. Very nice innovation of the old building.

    Wonderfully decorated and with top-class beds. Friendly and professional staff, effortless check-in possible even while hotel is closed. Fantastic breakfast with local sausages and cheese :-)
