Toledo seemed to have less outdoor eating/drinking places than there were in Segovia which we also visited. I think this was perhaps due to the fact that buildings are so tightly packed together compared to Segovia. Toledo is beautiful but very hilly and steep hills. If you could make me 10 years younger I could have seen and done more. The hop on hop off sightseeing bus was great for us. We spent the first two nights of our fly drive trip around the region in Toledo and were not disappointed. Beautiful city, lots to see and do. Old winding streets full of character, lots of historical places to see and visit - known as the city of three cultures (Moorish, Christian and Jewish). Toledo is a beautiful city well worth discovering, nestled on the hillside within old city walls with the river Tajo and countryside below. There's an amazing history themed park called Puy de Fou with an amazing night show well worth seeing! My daughter has a friend in Toledo which is the reason for my visit. My daughter visits with her friend whilst I explore the city. I love it, it is a great place for both a solo traveller and those travelling with family or friends. Toledo is beautiful, there are just so much history and so many stunning religious buildings, and small little artisan shops. The landscape is also wonderful, and it is easy to escape the narrow streets and get out to where the river flows at the foot of the city walls. There is also an excellent vegetarian restaurant (Madre Tierra) close to the cathedral - and this is most welcome in a city that has a reputation for meaty dishes such as carcamusas. I had the vegetarian version in lovely Madre Tierra, with good wine and pleasant company. I strongly recommend a visit to the windmills of Consuegra as well. This was the highlight for me. Casa Palacio Rincon de la Catedral is an old historical house, it is in the middle of the old town of Toledo and all places of interest are in front of the door. At the same time it is very quiet and you can enjoy your stay in unique rooms. Also the service is unbelievable, it is more like visiting friends or family and I had the best breakfast I ever had.
