I’m not sure if there’s anything else to do in Vilaflor than the hiking trails, mountains and forest. Especially at weekends, everything is closed - shops (only local), restaurants, no people outside, the main square is surprisingly steep and in the middle is overgrown greenery like garden which makes impossible to take a photo of the centre of the village. Two churches may be open at times. Good parking lot by the churches, but the village is long, winding, steep, spreading sideways, hard to say where it begins and ends. The location was lovely - half way up El Teide with adjacent pine forests for walking and easy access to the National Park. The village has several good restaurants although they tend to close early. The accommodation is very basic and most rooms have poor facilities - best for a one or perhaps two night stay. Vilaflor is a lovely small high mountain village situated on a steep hillside having several options for accommodation. It appears to be on the main bus route from the coast up into the volcanic caldera of Mount Teide National Park. There are several shops to get supplies. There are a number of restaurants which we found seemed to cater mainly for day travellers, most seemed to close early in the evening giving limited options. There are a small number of friendly bar/cafes, again opening times did not seem to correspond with online opening times, although this may be seasonal. The village is ideal for walkers and cyclists or relaxing, but definitely not a party type destination. It may also cause issues for those with some mobility limitations. Although there are buses and taxis available ideally we would recommend having a hire car to enable travel at most convenient times and for access to the higher mountain areas. We found that all parking areas are free at point of access, but early or late arrival is wise as the parking fills up very quickly. There is a relatively new information centre and museum at the Parador de Canadas Del Teide which has good clean toilets and currently supply a free map of all the local walking trails. For those who wish to remain in the vicinity of Vilaflor itself there are a large number of local walking/cycling trails availableGuest review byMikeUnited Kingdom

I haven't met anyone in person, checkin was done via Booking.com chat. The room was tidy and had two small bottles of water waiting. Bathroom was shared for the three top floor rooms, I was the only patron so quasi private. Tapwater is fine too. I parked my car on a public lot a couple of meters down the road.
