Pleasant surprise, I had to book a last minute room in Helsinki while a major event was made most of the hotels fully booked, the cheapest was citybox. In a few minutes I was able to book, get into the venue and quickly checkin in the automated machines. The room was super clean, amazing bed and linen. The venue is well organized, straightfoward utilities and clean premises.

This is a great design hotel in a very good location, just a few minutes from the central Esplanade where you have lots of interesting shops, eateries and the harbour. Our room was large divided into 4 areas. a very comfortable sitting area, convenient working area, bedroom area with a king bed and the dressing area with two closets and drawers. Everything is well thought out. Such as the little bench at the entrance to take the shoes off. Lighting system was very good with various controls it is possible to achieve desired level of brightness. We like the room a bit more dark and cozy, this could be achieved easily. Bathroom lights were very good. There was a low light operated by a movement sensor in the bathroom. This light wasn't;t strong to wake you up from your sleep but light up the bathroom immediately upon walking in. In the bathroom too, there were lots of convenient little details. Breakfast was good. The area where breakfast served was again nicely designed and very pleasant to be in. Food choice and quality was good.

FAQs about hotels in Helsinki

Nordic Daughter of the Baltic

Scratch beneath the small-town surface of Helsinki and you will find a cosmopolitan metropolis buzzing with a lively attitude and plenty of excitement. The relatively short-lived summer offers the best chance to appreciate the outdoors and sit on one of the popular café terraces, or even hit the Hietaniemi Beach, all of which can be enjoyed during the 20 hours of daylight.

Strolling around the streets of Helsinki will reveal an Empire-style of architecture, comparable to St. Petersburg. The greatest example of this is the green-domed Lutheran Cathedral which rises proudly out of the center of Senate Square.

From here the main shopping street of Aleksanterinkatu, affectionately known as Aleksi, runs towards Mannerheimintie and contains the largest department store in Scandanavia, called Stockmann. The up-market boulevard of Esplanadi runs alongside and is packed with exclusive boutiques.

Lovers of Nordic design will be thrilled by the Design Museum and the Ateneum Art Museum. Nature is in abundance on the beautiful archipelago which lies along the coast. A must-see is the Baltic fortress of Suomenlinna, where you just might forget you’re in a big city.

Whether you head to a sauna or amusement park when you disembark from Helsinki-Vantaa International Airport, with over 65 hotels, apartments and hostels, Booking.com has the perfect place for your Scandinavian stay.

Helsinki is a friendly, clean city with extremely efficient transit service. We loved the sauna culture and visited a public pool to experience it first-hand. We took a 5 hour e-bike tour through Trip Advisor and that was amazing, especially since the guide introduced us to the public pool and saunas. Biking is the perfect way to see Helsinki and ride through the many forest city trails. The Oodi Library downtown is a must-see, very beautiful as was the ferry to Suomenlinna. We came across Tripla Mall while visiting a laundromat and that was the perfect shopping experience. We recommend visiting Helsinki and would love to visit other towns in Finland in the future.

Very nice city, fairly small, so it's easy to go aroung and see many things in a short time. Also, Helsinki can be used as a basis so as to visit nearby areas, like Porvoo etc. Our kid appreciated all the different, fantastic playgrounds we discovered in the city. (they are many :-) The Old market with all the food stalls was amazing, it's absolutely worth visiting. Suomenlinna is also very much worth visiting. Helsinki has a very extended coastline, and I loved walking around it. Make sure you don't miss the sauna experience.

Loved the great Oodi library, lots of different and interesting things happening. Hop on hop off bus, ( there are 2 companies) get the one that has the most stops. Some places close for lunch so not able to visit in the time available. This hop on etc is a great way to see the town and get off and explore before going to the next stop. Check out before how to buy a train ticket from the airport to the city. Not much tourist information at the airport or else I missed it. Travel to the central city by train is 30 minutes, approximately, and a short walk to my hotel. Would visit again.

I was in Helsinki for 1 Full day - caught the highlights but did not go into any museums. I think Helsinki is a good 2 day visit - Ish airport is a VERY EASY train ride to city center train station / so it is great if your hotel would be near the train station. Ate Creamy Salmon soup at the old city Market - excellent & did a tip based “ Free” walking tour to get a basic understanding of- the city is easy to navigate . Fazer is a favorite coffee / sweet stop.

Air conditioning was life saving in the heatwave! Super comfortable beds, excellent pillows, there were toiletries provided which smelled lovely. Black out curtains and sound proofed rooms made sleep so peaceful. Very good compact room with everything that you need. Breakfast had good choice and it was delicious. Easy to get to the hotel from the city center with a bus. Easy and convenient online check in. Felt very safe in the hotel as there were a lot of safety features in the hotel to avoid non hotel guests wondering around.

Tidy, silent and cozy place. So cute boutique hotel at city center. Transportation from airport is very easy and comfortable with train and public bus no 600(takes about 45 minutes to central station). You should buy a daily HSL card(1,2,3 or 7 days up to your visit of Helsinki). A-B-C regional card is best and enough for tourists. You can use this card also for your visit to Suomenlinna Sea Fortress by boat.

A nicely renovated hotel in a great city center location. The breakfast is rich and the bars have a good selection of drinks. As is customary in today's circumstances, it is usually not possible to communicate with the staff in Finnish. However, the entire service was quick and extremely polite.
