Tamarissiere is a perfect place from which to explore the Languedoc. There is a ferry taxi which goes back and forth across the Herault River so you can visit Grau d'Agde for shops, bars, cafes, restaurants, the several weekly markets and their beautiful beach. We used Sun7 sun beds and parasols to enjoy the weather, swim and be waited on. The Mediterranean is 'just there' for swimming, jet skiing, beach combing and more. While the area is small on this side of the L'Herault River, there is all you need: Shops for groceries, restaurants, parking for the beach and Hiking Trails. We really went to Agde to see Chateau Laurens, which did not disappoint (if you like art nouveau style, which I do!). So I enjoyed it for that alone, but then Agde turned out to be a small but interesting little town with a long and rich history. There were also plenty of great eating options (even for us vegetarians). Then there were the beaches, not far away, and Cap d'Agde, and plenty of walks. Agde is a beautiful location but it is important to remember...
Agde is a beautiful location but it is important to remember it is contained between 2 rivers so it’s essential to have transport to visit the places you can see from the beach there. I mostly booked because this accommodation offered a private pool as well as free use of a bike - very much enjoyed both, cycling around old Agde centre, to the beach, and all the way to Sète along cycle paths. Friendly hosts went the extra mile in picking me up from Beziers airport - just wish my French was good enough to have better communicated with them. The nearest supermarket is 5 minutes drive away. The apartment is very well equipped, and thoughtfully done. The bed is the most comfortable I’ve slept in! It was spotlessly clean on arrival. This hotel has very recently been renovated to a high standard and I may have been one of the first to stay in my first floor room.
