Gorgeous gem of a place - medieval streets of great character with flowing streams between. The newer parts of town are handsome; there is little motor traffic and everything is well kept. Defo a safe place to be. If you enjoy cycling, Annecy is a cycling town with lots of young children, or deliveries, conveyed by bike. In this respect it’s what every town should aim for. The lake is a wonder: tall, jagged cream coloured mountains behindsun dappled water. The cycle route around it is easy and has several ‘velo cafes’ alongside to restore your energy! (The town contains numerous bike hire shops.) The lake has several swimming places (and a beach at St Jorioz). We visited in perfect weather in mid September and we were surprised at just how busy the old town had become. Definitely a honey trap kind of place.Guest review byPeterUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Annecy was absolutely beautiful! I can see why it is called the Venice of the Alps! You need at least a week to make the most of everything but we only had 3 days. 7 Days is too long, the restaurants in the old town close after lunchtime service until the evening and they don’t serve food until 7pm. At lunchtime we couldn’t get a table to have a drink unless we were having food. We were lucky we were staying above the Brasserie des Européens and they continue to serve drinks all afternoon. The 'Old Town' is why most people go there however two 80 + fit pensioners doing over 12k (each) steps was very enjoyable if somewhat tiring. Plenty of places to eat, rather too many outlets selling 'the usual tripper' 'Tat' - But that has to be expected in this day and age - you don't HAVE to buy it ! Boy are they 'raking the money in' on the boat trips ! ... but really enjoyable and relaxing after the walking. Just do it !Guest review byAprilFrance

As a note and nothing to do with hotel ,, btut annecy old town is a nightmare with a dog ,, I have the softest retriever and 3 places wouldn’t even let me sit outside with her as they were saying she might bite someone ,,,, think they should sort out streets with beggars everywhere and people sleeping rough with dogs etc . Perfect location just at the start of the main old town street, just a few steps from some great cafes and bakeries (Adrenaline Coffee Roasters, Artisan Bakery & Dip Honest Food). The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean, super quiet. The check-in and check-out were the most uncomplicated I have ever experienced.
