I loved everything about this place. It was decorated to a very nice taste and very good standards. Downstairs there was an open space with kitchen, sitting-dining room and a rest room. It also had a lovely court yard to eat outside. Upstairs, it had a magnificent huge bedroom, very nicely decorated with a shower room and a bed for children to sleep in. It was situated by the road in a small village. Close to the studio flat, there was a (bakery) that sold the most amazing bread, sandwiches, and pastries. Nearby we also found a restaurant that served the most delicious food, where we had an amazing dinner. We loved our stay so much! The host was very nice and accommodating. They also accept pets. Our dog loved walking in the court yard. I recommend this place 110 percent!

Beautifully restored huge room with lovely old furniture and spacious bathroom on the ground floor of a wing of the old manor house and ancient tower. Own front door and table and chairs on lawn outside. Fresh fruit salad , omelette, lovely jams etc for breakfast .

My family and I had a lovely stay at La Saintonge, the four of us stayed for four nights and thought that the property was superb quality, exceptionally comfortable, super clean and lovely quiet surroundings. We were met by the owner and her granddaughter who showed us the property and handed us the keys. Fabulous property! We then had great choices of beaches around Royan and up towards La Rochelle - all 30-40 min drive away through pleasant French countryside. An advantage of being located slightly in-land is that you get super quiet and calm surroundings, easy access to château’s and and small towns, as well as easy access to stunning beaches. The grounds of the property are substantial and lots to entertain the kids - swings and slides etc and a long gated driveway for the kids to practice their bike rides. We loved it and would absolutely return! Highly recommended if you want a peaceful oasis with a very high quality finish.

    We only stayed one night on our way south to SW France but...

    We only stayed one night on our way south to SW France but Didier & Catherine served a delicious evening meal with wine which they ate with us and a French family, who were also staying there. We were made to feel very welcome and part of the family. Our bedroom and ensuite bathroom were well appointed and the bed particularly comfortable. Breakfast next morning was another shared meal and was complete with homemade yoghurt and fruit conserves. The pool, although not heated, looked newly installed and the gardens and roses gave a relaxing feel.
