Cap Ferret still has some degree of old-world charm as a sea...
Cap Ferret still has some degree of old-world charm as a sea-side resort, and has not been over-developed. Working fisherman's huts, and holiday beach shacks can still be found, and it looks very much as I remembered it on my first visit 20 years ago. To get to it you have a 40 minute drive around the bay - past some crowded beach parks and caravan parks - or you take the ferry from Arcachon, which is smarter but much more developed as a resort.
