This is a quiet town with good restaurants and interesting things to explore. The small museum was fascinating. Ideal location from which to visit Guédelon - where a team of forty master-builders has taken on the extraordinary challenge of building a castle using the technology and materials of the Middle Ages. We were here for three nights and Giles and his wife (the owners) were brilliant. So helpful with everything - from serving breakfast in our room (overlooking the river) to providing ice buckets for our wine. The guest house is beautiful and the garden - with seating overlooking the Loire - is wonderful. The town of Cosne Cours sur Loire (two minute walk) has plenty of bars and restaurants and you're only 15 minutes drive from Sancerre. The room was simple but functional and it was good value for money. The hotel is run by a couple who were extremely friendly and helpful.
