It is a little town with just one attraction as the Barbarosa fortress and the church next to it. And the greatest appeal is Pierre Richard winery 10 minutes away by car. But I absolutely fell in love with the town market, foods, wine and people. We drove a little round the area. Narbonne plage was more to our liking than Gruissan, only 20 min away. Restaurants nice. Food good. Plenty of nice wine yards with good local products. Few spoke English, not a problem for us but if you speak any French it can be a little challenging. But you will manage. Primarily French people which I find refreshing when I go to see somewhere else. Not far to old cities in the area. Gruissan marina is an attempt to duplicate the much larger resort of Cap d'Agde a few tens of miles up coast. While in Cap d'Agde they ended up spoiling the enormous sandy beaches environment building everywhere, they leaved this part mostly intact in Gruissan, which is much more balanced and still shows large patches of how was this region's seaside 40 years before. Old Gruissan town is more looking to the salty marshes and a certainly deserve attention. The whole place has some strongly endearing feelings.Guest review byBernard GellyFrance
