Nice fishing village with plenty of restaurants and tourist-oriented shops. The village centre is a harbour and the beaches are on the edge of the village. The main town, St Pierre, is very close and worth a visit. The busy fishing port and fresh fish markets were of great interest, and there was plenty of choice at restaurants -particularly if you wanted to eat fresh fish! The island is really well set-up for cycling-cycle lanes abound and the island of Oleron is flat. La Cotiniere is both a small working port and a holiday venue. It has shops offering clothes, gifts and souvenirs, most quite tasteful. There are a few bike rental companies too - we hired bikes for a day and had great fun exploring. It has plenty of restaurants: we dined at two, on a list of recommended restaurants provided by our hotel.
