    This touristy village is a great base for a holiday in the...

    This touristy village is a great base for a holiday in the Dordogne area of France. It's the world centre of prehistory, complete with the excellent National Museum of Prehistory and loads of caves and rock shelters nearby. The incredible cave paintings at Lascaux and the medieval town of Sarlat (amazing market on Saturday mornings) are a short drive away. There are loads of great restaurants in the village, and also a weekly evening food market on Fridays in the summer, with fabulous food stalls (top-quality take away dinner!). We didn't have a car during our holiday - we travelled there and back to Les Eyzies by train, and made full use of the local bus services 337 and 339 which run a very cheap summer service for tourists to Sarlat and Lascaux. Canoeing on the River Vezere is a must - we used Canoe 24, a 5-minute walk from our hotel.

    Les Eyzies is the capitol of European cave art.

    Les Eyzies is the capitol of European cave art. If you want to explore caves and shelters with art from 15 to 30 thousand years ago, this is right in the middle of it all. The village is very charming, with a main street about 1 km long, and some side streets. There are mainly restaurants and shops here. Not top notch restaurants like in Paris, but absolutely good enough. I have been here twice, and dream of coming back. Very picturesque with its special geology and beautiful houses.

    Such a beautiful village with a lot of amenities for spending a few days of strolling, dining, canoeing, walking and especially exploring the prehistoric sites. The people are very friendly and English is spoken. A little gem.

    We stayed in Les Eyzies-de-Tayac because we were interested in exploring the Vezere Valley and it seemed to be a good place to base our search. It proved to be a great choice - the hotel was fantastic and the scenic town had a number of really great dining options within walking distance.

    Les Ezyies is a charming, friendly town in the heart of the Perigord with great hotels, restaurants and amenities. Many lovely pre-history sites within 25 kilometers, and the Museum of Pre-History in the middle of town is extraordinary.

    Everything was fine. We arrived on our motorbikes, eight of us and a member of staff invited us to sit down in the shade, it was a very hot day. She returned with eight Long island iced teas, on the house. This is a very nice four star hotel in a very nice location. The tasting menu was amazing, dinner took three hours. The rooms were great as was the breakfast.

    Nothing it was smelly and dirty I cleaned the room no bedding or towels when you could stay in 4* hotel in Andorra for the same price
