We had to stay here for a few nights after our car broke down on the way home, and we couldn’t have wished for a better place. The team were incredibly warm and welcoming, with a truly positive and personal approach. They really pay attention to every detail, which made our unexpected stay feel extra special and comfortable. We loved everything about La Closerie St-Jacques! Our suite was decorated beautifully - a wonderfully tasteful mix of old and new, with a large and cosy bed, a separate dressing area, and a modern shower room. Jean-Luc and Jérôme are superb hosts - warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful (even going so far as to book restaurants in advance and a taxi for a wedding we were attending). The breakfasts were a real treat - freshly served and different each morning (including fruit, homemade yoghurts and tarts, honey, jam, crepes…). Every last detail had been thought about, and it was clear that a lot of care and attention has been put into the decoration and service. An exceptional stay all round.

    I'd never heard of Loches, but it's a real gem. Totally preserved medieval city with really beautiful buildings and a real community feel. We were lucky enough to be there on market day also, which was a real treat.

    Beautiful old city.

    Beautiful old city. Lots of lovely buildings and the City Royale in particular is stunning. Go on market day (Wed and Sat) when the place is buzzing. Lots of good cafes and restaurants (Ma Pet't Restau is our favourite)

    Loches is full of history and we learned a lot about Valois kings and queens, not to mention medieval brigands and characters. The Saturday market was great fun - and much larger than we expected. Many great places to visit in the vicinity. Definitely bringing walking boots next time!

    We only had a morning to look at the royal castle/town...

    We only had a morning to look at the royal castle/town inside its walls. You really need a day if, like us, you are interested in historic buildings, and there was a lot elsewhere to see in the town which we know we missed. We shall have to return. No problem (with advice from the proprietors of where we stayed) finding somewhere to eat in the town on a Monday evening.

    Loches is the perfect little town with lots of history, cute shops and plenty of places to eat. It has a beautiful walk along the river and plenty of green spaces as well as the historic buildings and cobbled streets in the old town. Everything is within walking distance.

    Loches is a very quite town/village and there is not much happening there especially in the evenings. There are only a handful of restaurants, one of which is very recommendable P'tit Restau. We hope that on our next visit there will be less rain.

    A beautiful historic house in the Old city. Well placed for walks to restaurants and other attractions. A warm welcome from the host and good communication prior to and during the stay. The room and bathroom were large and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable and the room and bathroom well equipped. Tea and coffee making facilities were appreciated. Breakfast was good with the usual range of continental fare. Overall a very enjoyable stay and we will definitely return both to Loches and the accommodation.

    This was a fascinating overnight experience. The welcome was warm and friendly, with an interesting explanation of the history of the caves - and in really good English fortunately, because our French isn't very good. We found a welcoming local bar (but only serving food at lunchtime) and a pizzeria nearby - our pizzas were very good indeed. To find other restaurants would have meant a drive back to Loches - and we had driven far enough.... The breakfast was superb! Thank you both for your hospitality

    Marie-Lys' house is simply wonderful, it is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed in. It looked amazing in the photos, and looks even better in person! When I was planning our road trip through France, this is exactly the kind of place I was hoping to stay at. You really do feel at home. Thank you Marie-Lys for being such a generous host.
