    Close enough to get to Metz, but far enough to be quiet and peaceful. If you're ambitious, you can walk to Metz (we did once), but figuring out how to buy bus passes (at Square du Luxembourg) is key. The buses are top-notch and clean; everybody uses them.

    If you'd like to visit Metz but without the crowded city, Longeville-lès-Metz is a great place to stay. Quiet place with lots of outdoor activity options, shops and restaurants and it's easy to get back to Metz from here.
