I so enjoyed my stay here last month. Everything about this hotel says “we care” and “we put our guests first.” It’s situated on Meyrueis’ diminutive town square – with the babbling Jonte just beyond – and lives up to its name for those wanting a quintessential Gorges du Tarn experience with the lodging to match. This is not a manicured village for the “see and be seen” crowd but an authentic Languedoc one for adventuresome types looking to enjoy the myriad hiking, rafting, kayaking, climbing, caving and other outdoor pursuits the region has on offer. The property is newly renovated and offers attractive and comfortable rooms which are decorated in neutral tones to accentuate the splendor outside rather than compete with it – in other words when you enter your room with shutters open you almost feel as though you are on the mountain, or next to the church belfry, or even at one of many sidewalk restaurants just a stone’s throw away. The lobby and dining area are spacious with just the right blend of new and old, and the hotel also has a delightful swimming pool improbably perched on a hillside above its top floor, itself accessed by a clever and almost whimsical (think Grimm’s fairy-tale) set of stairs and aerial bridges. Guest parking is available in a lot just beyond the pool but for those who prefer step-free access there is also a large public – and free – carpark a few hundred feet outside the main door. For me the two standout features of the property were its proximity to the Jonte (whose tumbling waters lolled me off to sleep each night – all front-facing rooms offer this) and the professionalism of the staff (who worked to combine my three individual reservations – made last-minute and high-season via Booking.com -- into a single consolidated stay, sending daily updates to my phone while I was on the road and then leaving my key and a personalized letter on the front desk when a planned 8 PM arrival became a 2 AM one). Lovely hotel. Excellent location for touring the gorges. Breakfast was lovely. We ate once in the hotel and it was very good. Staff v helpful. Garage for motorbike very good.

Firstly, Meyruis itself is wonderful, a perfect spot to base ourselves for a few days whilst we explored the local area on motorcycle. We stayed at the Hotel De l'Europe on the basis of a recommendation and we were not disappointed. Basic but clean, well appointed rooms, perfect location in the village with plenty of restaurants a few steps away. The owner was friendly and very helpful. We only had breakfast on the last morning and, whilst it was just your typical french continental breakfast, it was excellent value at €7.90. If we are in the area again we will definitely return. It was a little dearer for a balcony room but well worth the extra. Just remember to close the shutters before bed. We didn't think about it the first night and were woken by blinding sunlight at an ungodly hour!

Very nice camp in beautiful location. We like the chalet we had, especially the view across the valley and the proximity to the well maintained swimming pool. The chalet was well equipped but please bear in mind you must take all your own washing up materials and toilet paper, although some initially provided. Staff were friendly. A short walk will take you the the centre of Meyrueis which is excellent. We just wished we lived closer so we could visit more often!

The hosts were extremely friendly, welcoming and attentive. They could not do enough for us and accommodated our very large dog for a whole week! The hotel is clean, very good value for money and situated in a small peaceful village in the middle of the country side so do make sure you have the use of a car. We could not fault the food at the hotel and very much appreciated homemade cake and dishes made from homegrown produce. We would definitely stay there again.

    It is an interesting and attractive town - we could have explored much more. But we were there for the walking and the Causses are something else. Don't all go and see please: the quietness and isolation is important! The Gorges du Tarn is also magnificent.

    The town is very clean and compact with all the restaurants and bars very close together along the main street. Beautiful location. Easy to get into the surrounding countryside. Municipal car park is a two minute walk from the town centre and has plenty of space.

    The hotel is close to the town center (and close to free public parking). There is a nice restaurant attached as well which is nice for dinner. Our room had been in a separate house accross the street. The hotel has a nice pool as well. Check in was at the restaurant. The personnel was very nice despite it being a busy Sunday night at the restaurant. The room was really large.

    Probably one of the best run hotels we've stayed in. The restaurant food & service was superb and there was garage in which to securely park our motorcycle making it a perfect base for our 5 day stay in the Cevennes.
