The joy of staying is such a gorgeous chateau in such a remarkable and fascinating 12th Century village was wonderful but my lasting memory will be the delightful staff who showed an interest in us and took the time to interact with us even singing a special song for our 50th wedding anniversary. Lovely property ! Very clean, comfy and quite large. Our hosts , as a last minute request, made us the most gorgeous, beautifully presented ham and cheese salad, fit for a banquet. They couldn’t do enough for us - lovely people ! The best stay of our holiday for sure , thoroughly recommend !

Philippe and Veronique were absolutely amazing hosts and nothing was too much trouble. The room we had was comfortable, immaculately decorated and spacious. Breakfast was traditional continental and delicious. On our last night we opted to have dinner and were served a beautiful three course meal with all dishes being home made and featuring local ingredients. The cost of this and our stay were excellent value.

Harald & Monique were incredibly welcoming hosts. The room was comfortable, spacious and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was wonderful, you could really tell it was good quality, homemade/ local produce. The effort they have put into the property is abundantly clear and we would return in a heartbeat to share their little piece of French heaven!

    Beautiful historic well kept village on grid layout.

    Beautiful historic well kept village on grid layout. Nice restaurants and small shops. Has two small supermarkets for provisions a butcher and veg shop wine and local delicacies. Market Thursday. Lovely local people. Would recommend privilege restaurant to eat offering local food to a high standard in a typically French setting. Nice walks from village for those who like walking or running. Good base for seeing the dordogne area by car. Historic market square nice to have a drink in in season. You can buy a map at the Monparzier tourist centre in the square showing walks which are marked by coloured markers. Two bakeries for daily croissants bread and lovely cakes and sandwiches. Local filling station just out of top end of villages on Road to Bergerac.

    We had a print of Monpazier from over 25 years ago and...

    We had a print of Monpazier from over 25 years ago and promised one day to visit. It's remained unchanged and was beautiful. Highly recommend having a wine or other drink in the market square and watch the world go by at a pace so much slower than here in England.

    I thought this might have been a bit too far from other...

    I thought this might have been a bit too far from other sites we wanted to visit, but it was perfect. Less touristy and much more charming. We spent a day in the village square enjoying shopping and learning about the history. Several great restaraunts( Michelin star)and cafes to choose from. So much more relaxing and enjoyable. Our favorite place and would gladly return.

    A really beautiful historic town/village, with a fantastic sense of having walked back to medieval times in the main square and two main streets. Plenty of great places to eat (Restaurant Eleanore / Privilege du perigord / Bistrot 2), and a range of high quality arts, crafts, antiques and food shops on offer. Fantastic marklet too.

    Firstly, the location is superb. Twenty steps and you're in the heart of Monpazier (literally). Easy to pull up, unload the car, and park within 50 metres at the other end of the street. Secondly, the apartment, WOW. It is so beautiful and spacious. All the modern amenities you need in a kitchen and bathroom, with the charm and character of the building. There is also good security, with a lock downstairs to the main entrance, and another lock to the apartment. We look forward to staying here again.

    Au bonheur des ruelles is situated in. a fantastic location, in a quiet street but minutes walk from everything that Monpazier has to offer. Not only were the Breakfast facilities superb and plentiful in the room, there was also complimentary croissant etc available at local patisseries. Our host was friendly and informative and really made us feel at home

    Dog friendly with a perfectly secure garden for the dog to run free in. Lovely pool to dip in and cool down. Easy walking distance to lovely Bastille village of Monpazier with plenty to see and do, with tourist shops and restaurants. Francis met us and helped sort out the Wi-Fi. Comfy beds and an outside seating area.

    Very friendly and accomodating staff and a lovely hotel with a good restaurant. Easy parking at the rear of the hotel. The situation is great, and the bastide of Monpazier is a charming little medieval town.
