From the very first moment you enter by the door, the outmost care and delicacy surrounds you. Located in a beautiful chateau, here nothing is immoderate or hollow. Every single detail is carefully put and thought and reflected on. I would like to celebrate the manager, for curating such a great staff. Victor, Bastien and every other single person we didn’t have a chance to ask their names, were doing their job with upmost excellency. I warmly applaud you all, like after the curtains falls in a theater, as I have hereby witnessed the art of hospitality. I have never experienced a 3 michelin star hotel before and I had no idea, but now I know how you can actually get this close to perfection. P.S: On top of everything I said, another big applause and huge appreciation for the love and care you showed to our furry friends who travels with us.

The location was great for our needs. There is a bus stop to take you into town about 5 mins walk. The bus was easy. The property was clean & comfortable, breakfast was good & the staff were exceptional. There is a shopping centre with restaurants about 5 minutes walk.

Sparkling City of Champagne

The largest city in the Champagne-Ardenne, Reims is inextricably linked with this region’s famous sparkling wine. In fact, the city’s symbol - its huge Gothic cathedral - has a window depicting the monk who invented champagne: Dom Perignon. This coronation cathedral of French kings for around a millennium also has stained-glass windows designed by Marc Chagall.

A mosaic detailing champagne production also features on an Art Nouveau building with a barrel-shaped door on Rue de Mars, next to the 17th-century city hall.

But it’s the Reims champagne houses that are stars of the show. Many big brands are headquartered here and some including Pommery and Taittinger offer cellar tours in their underground chalk caves. You can also visit Veuve-Clicquot by appointment. Of course, no tour would be complete without a champagne tasting session, so you may leave feeling a little heady.

As you’d expect of such a prestigious city, there’s no shortage of restaurants, bars and shops including Galeries Lafayette and the Espace d’Erlon shopping centre. Tree-lined Place d’Erlon is considered the heart of the city and is home to the Reims Christmas markets.

    Champagne tour is a must and walking around the city including the cathedral. Eating out was easy with plenty of bars and restaurants. Reims is a modern city with some history, so has plenty of shops.

    Reims is a great place for an overnight stopover if you are travelling down the eastern side of France. We have stooped here many times. Lots of nice places to eat and drink and the main Place Drouet D'Erlon is lovely.

    The cathedral was worth a visit as was the champagne houses. Too much building/renovation work happening at the same time making it feel like a building site at times. Some museums or interesting sites closed, not sure why.

    We found the city enchanting, had two good evenings out at a bar in the Forum. Don't miss the Basilica, less well known than the cathedral but in my view equally breathtaking. We were suggested by our hotel to visit a local wine shop that was a bit away from the cathedral, and Chai Leon was everything it was cracked up to be. Easy city to walk around - we did not actually visit any of the wine tours but travelled to Epernay instead and had a look round there. Definitely worth the visit and a bit disappointed we only had one full day there.

    The cathedral is stunning and a must-see.

    The cathedral is stunning and a must-see. Unfortunately the Museum of Surrender was closed during our time there. The Saturday market is purely a "farmers-type" market. There are no stands like in Provencal markets selling goods so not great for tourists. The town itself feels like a suburb; we did not find good shopping areas with unique boutiques. Food was good but be sure to seek out higher-rated places. Our favorite day was driving the "Route de Champagne" through Aÿ and Hautvillers (follow Rick Steves recommendation). We had a delicious lunch at Au 36 in Hautvillers, we highly recommend that (must reserve ahead). If you only have time for one stop make it Hautvillers to see the abby of Dom Perignon and where he is buried. The town is elevated so views are wonderful!

    This hotel was much better than I expected. I had read some bad reviews which were unfounded as it turned out. It's a budget hotel, not the Ritz, but for what it costs it does the job. A good place to stay over en route through France, near to restaurants to easily eat out. The woman on the desk was really friendly and responsive, the room was clean, the breakfast in the morning was cheap and cheerful and there were towels in the rooms which I hadn't expected. So overall a good experience.

    A modern city centre hotel in an amazing location opposite Reims Cathedral. Our room overlooked the cathedral square. Our room was quite small, as city hotels tend to be, but it was perfectly comfortable and designed to work for a couple sharing. Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Recommended.
