Sancerre is an interesting medieval town on a hill and is certainly good for a short stay, or longer if you intend to do a lot of activities in the area. The little village of Bue about 3 km away is something to behold with many vineyards on hill-slopes and on flat ground. There are many eateries in Sancerre, a bit pricey but you come to expect that for it's touristique location. English is quite well-spoken here by the servers.Guest review byDominickFrance - 10.0

Sancerre is a beautiful old hilltop visage.
Sancerre is a beautiful old hilltop visage. It is pleasantly located allowing day trips to surrounding medieval villages and small cities such as Gion, Bourges, and Auxerre. I strongly recommend taking these day trips. The old cobblestone streets and equally ancient homes and buildings offer wonderful photo ops. I also recommend a drive out into the vineyards. Regarding “getting about in Sancerre,”. Many of the streets are quite steep, so be willing to take your time and enjoy the environment.Guest review byErnestUnited States - 10.0

We only had an overnight stop in Sancerre. It was a shame as I would like to spend more time exploring the area. Sancerre is a lovely little town and worth a wander about. Great wines and nice people. Like many such towns, it does suffer from it's own fame. Our junior suite was large with a very comfortable bed and bedding. It had the largest shower we’ve ever seen!! All the facilities were first class. We were made to feel instantly at home by the staff Emma looked after all our needs along with Julie, and Julie 2. Owen orchestrated the whole restaurants fine dinning meal single handed which was no mean feat. All the staff is a credit to the hotel. Sancerre is on the Velo Loire cycle path and this unit has a locked courtyard to secure our bikes overnight. It is a 2 floor walk up, but the view across the vines makes it totally worthwhile.
