    Saumur is a gem of a town, there are so many activities that...

    Saumur is a gem of a town, there are so many activities that you can participate in, whether cycling, kayaking, walking around the historic town or going for the famous degustation at one of the numerous vineyards that are within easy distance. It is also the gateway to dozens of chateau. There are cruises on the river to suit most budgets and restaurants from the basic to the expensive. There are also various markets and festivities that take place. If you have time the Petits Train is a must, forty minutes being driven around the historic town gives you a new perspective on life, especially the view from the right bank which lets you enjoy the historic panorama on the left bank.

    Lovely relaxed atmosphere with some great restaurants.

    Lovely relaxed atmosphere with some great restaurants. The Chateau was interesting but I've visited better. The Cavalry museum was informative and only 6 euros for entry. Loads of tourists around in August but this just added to the ambiance. Clean streets and no litter!

    The old town has lots of shops, bars and restaurants, interesting architechture. and a view of the Loire. The Chateau is beautiful. The tank museum (Musee De Blindes) is very interesting with most exhibits having both English and French descriptions.

    A walkable city, very compact.

    A walkable city, very compact. Good buses to places of interest and to visit the other side of Saumur over the river. Lots to do for everyone, Cadre Noir horse show, an armoured vehicle museum which is very interesting. Vineyard trips. Activities and restaurants to suit every budget.

    Sadly not as pretty or enjoyable as our previous visit some years ago. Pretty grubby street wise, could do with a good clean and some flowers might improve it's appearance. We were only there for a two day visit. We visited the Calvary musem, took a boat trip and took the little train tour around the city All the attractions we visited were very good, friendly staff and good value for money

    Saumur is a beautiful town on the banks of the River Loire, with many restaurants and places to visit. The whole area quite lovely with many unspoilt villages and towns nearby. It is a very good base to tour the area visiting many of the Chateau of the Loire Valley.

    Beautiful hotel, ideal location for visiting the Loire, hotel is a short drive from Saumur. Hotel has a lovely pool with loungers, although we didn’t use due to the weather. Our room was spacious and beautiful and the bed was comfortable. A continental breakfast is served in a lovely conservatory, there was plenty of choice and everything is beautifully presented. Hosts were very helpful and made restaurant and attraction recommendations.

    Really nice hotel in the centre of Saumur. Ideally located for exploring the local area. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Great, clean facilities and we had a very comfortable, quiet room at the back of the hotel. Breakfast was good value and plentiful. We pre-booked a parking space at the back of the hotel which was an extra cost but worth it. We would definitely use this hotel again.

    The location is perfect in the centre of Saumur. Regis is always a perfect host. We have stayed several times and in different rooms and always enjoyed it. There is a very pleasant ambience. The design of the hotel is lovely and the rooms offer everything one needs. The breakfast is superb. Car parking is available in front and behind the hotel. We highly recommend the hotel!

    Beautiful, idyllic hotel, well situated near to the Chateau du Saumur and local bars and restaurants. Staff were extremely helpful. Continental breakfast served with croissants and lovely fresh bread. Rooms were large and the bed was so comfortable. Would definitely stay there again.

    We stayed for one night on our cycle trip through the Loire Valley. The apartment is lovely and spacious with a comfortable bed and a well equipped kitchen. The apartment is in a great location with restaurants and a supermarket nearby.
