We wanted to visit Strasbourg but didn't want to drive into the city so we chose Selestat with it's easy train link. We didn't expect to love Selestat better. The old town is very compact and easy to walk around. Lovely restaurants and great boulangeries.Guest review byChristopherAustralia - 10.0

We visited just before Christmas.
We visited just before Christmas. The centre of this beautiful town was nicely decorated with trees and lights everywhere and some small Christmas markets. Not as hectic as nearby Colmar, which we also visited. The shops in Sélestat offer a range of high quality and unusual gifts. We chose to stay here as it seemed to be a good midpoint...
We chose to stay here as it seemed to be a good midpoint between Colmar and Strasbourg, both of which we intended to visit. However, upon arriving we abandoned plans to visit Strasbourg and instead spent the day in and around Selestat, is it was so lovely and not nearly as filled with tourists as Colmar had been. In particular, the tour through the castle nearby (Haut-Koenigsbourg) was outstanding. Also well worth visiting was the Bibliotheque Humaniste. Selestat was a very well placed town to explore the Alsace...
Selestat was a very well placed town to explore the Alsace region of France. It was smaller than both Strasbourg and Colmar and centrally located between those towns. Selestat had the same charm of these larger towns and we were able to make easy day trips to the larger towns and the many small villages in between. We took a week to allow easy exploration of the region, including some of the Vosges mountain range. Selestat had a good range of casual and higher end dining options, but without the crowds of bigger towns.Guest review byKymAustralia

Comfy beds, clean and nice bathroom, well equipped kitchen and cleaning equipment. Free parking was always available in front of the apartment on public street. Patisseries are in walking distance to get some fresh croissants in the morning and big supermarkets are a 3min drive away only. Selestat is a good base for visiting Straßburg and Colmar and it is totally worth walking through the old town of Selestat as well. Would clearly book again.Guest review bySvenGermany

Comfortable apartment with everything you need for your stay, just next to Selestat town centre, only few minutes by train to Colmar or Strasbourg.
