Alnmouth is beautiful, it is easy to get to Alnmouth on the train, if you don't want to hire a car or drive to Alnmouth there are good walking and cycling routes from Alnmouth. For a small place it has plenty of restaurants, the beach is a short walk from all the shops and restaurants. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. The area is full of history and has plenty of castles to explore, we visited both Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh castle. We really enjoyed our lunch at The Jolly Fisherman in Craster, following our walk back from Dunstanburgh castle. The Copper Kettle in Bamburgh is also worth a visit, they had a wonderful selection of cakes and scones. It is a part of the UK, we will definitely return to.

Alnmouth is a lovely village with a small shop and several different places to eat. When we were there, the Red Lion was popular for an early evening drink in their large garden. The sandy beach is great and huge when the tide is out. It's a short drive to Alnwick and well located for visiting other places up and down the Northumberland coast.

Alnmouth is a clean and quiet resort.

Alnmouth is a clean and quiet resort. Places to eat at all levels from small cafes to restaurants. For the self caterer only one small general store with limited provisions although Alnwick is not far away and is well stocked with good superstores. Good for dog owners, there are good footpaths so have a look at google earth maps before you arrive. Check out the bus routes if you want to leave the car alone, the buses are frequent.

The friendliness of locals and traders.

The friendliness of locals and traders. A lovely laid-back vibe. A place to relax. The only gripe, if not staying in self catering, was the lack of food served in the pubs. Apart from breakfast, The Red Lion only served Pizza. The Sun wasn't doing anything, despite an attractive menu outside ( turns out their chef had left them) We went to the Hope & Anchor, which was okay, but expensive.

We were walking a half marathon for Alzheimers Society and the bath was a blessing after a fabulous day! Alnmouth is a perfect place to stay and so close to the beach and inland for walks with or without dogs, 2 x golf courses (1 being a Links course), a drive to Alnwick to see the Alnwick Gardens, castle etc. Good restaurants, POst Office/corner shop which is well equipped.

Alnmouth is a lovely quiet seaside town with stone houses (very pretty) There is a lovely pay area on near the beach. The Hope & Anchor is a lovely dog friendly restaurant and take out. We had an evening meal which was delicious and they cater for gluten free too. Staff were very attentive. There are a few quirky shops. There is free parking but at certain times you may struggle to get a space.

The Old Concert Rooms is in a perfect location for exploring the Northumberland coast as well as visiting Northumberland National Park. It is conveniently located in the heart of Alnmouth, there are plenty of restaurants and cafes on the main street. As Alnmouth is quite small, it is important to book restaurants in advance of your visit. Alnwick is only five miles from Alnmouth, which has a variety of restaurants and cafes, if you go to Alnwick, visit Barter Books.

I am hoping this bad review will flag both Sykes Cottages and Booking.com to the fact that I never got to stay here. Cottage was never available and 6 weeks on I am awaiting the refund due. Does anyone in Customer Services of either company read anything. I have posted numerous requests for help on this to no avail. I NEVER STAYED AT ALN COTTAGE IN ALNMOUTH!!!!!!!

High quality accommodation in a great location. Bedroom is similar to a boutique hotel and kitchen and living area are both superbly equipped. The owners have thought of everything and its a real cosy nest. Very clean and comfortable.
