Location and the friendly staff, especially Akram and Trenton. Normally no place deserves 10, but the location is so nice that I can't help. This is 10/10 for me. I think I'll visit this place again. Amazing views from the rooms on one side.

Mingarry Park

Acharacle (Near Arisaig)

Luxury Highland retreat with award-winning dining, stunning mountain views and a warm Scottish welcome.

The Mingarry is a “boutique hotel” of 8 rooms where the host, Emma, gives personal service. The entire hotel: entry, room, restaurant, is beautifully decorated. At the entry, there’s a little bookcase gift shop of postcards, journals and other locally-themed and locally-made items. We stayed in the Mingarry Room. The living room area was huge with a large sofa, coffee table and desk and a tiny balcony that felt very safe. A little table and two chairs were provided and the balcony offered a great view of the highlands and the surrounding fields. Not a dramatic view but a quiet and calm one. The bedroom included nightstands, another desk, and a little bench to sit on to enjoy the view from the window. Skylight in the bathroom which was really nice to let light in but keep the bathroom private. The bathrobes were huge fluffy, so luxurious! The bed was so soft and we slept really well. The living room included a Nespresso machine and tea kettle with teas, instant coffee and cocoa, biscuits. There was also a small fridge with mini-bar with free waters along with liquors and luxury snack items for a fee. Behind the hotel is a lovely grassy field, ponds and farm ducks. In the field were three, clear geodomes to relax in style! Each “pod” kept the cold and the bugs out. Inside each pod is a heater, love seat and lounge chairs that can seat 4, a coffee table and lights. Mimosas on arrival (can’t beat that!) and Emma will also deliver snacks, desserts or libations. The attached restaurant—hands down, the best food of our trip! Their Cullen Skink is to die for! The menu changes frequently according to the availability of local produce. There are few tables and there are few restaurants in the area so having a reservation is a good idea. The restaurant includes a bar with a good selection of local whiskies and gins. There was plenty of parking. A car is needed to get here and to the area attractions. Most of the roads are single lane but the drive is worth it!

First of all, the location of the The Inn @ Aird a' Bhasair is idyllic and beautiful. The staff were very welcoming on our arrival and went out of their way to help us to the room allocated for our stay. The room itself was very comfortable and contained all of the services we could have asked for and was very quiet, which was to our liking. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and the food was of the highest order and the service was excellent. Likewise, breakfast was superb, with a very wide selection to choose from and all we selected was delicious. We cannot speak too highly of The Inn @ Aird a' Bhasair. We wished we had booked a longer stay at the hotel and toured the area for a little longer than we had planned.

Bar staff checked us in and were funny and efficient. Breakfast was cooked to order in the morning and again staff was very friendly! Three only reason I didn't put full marks was the step outside stairs

The B and B is a short distance from the train station but CJ kindly picked us up. Dinner at the Arisaig pub was fabulous and a nice walk home after. We booked a taxi to Mallaig which was great and we caught the ferry to Knoydart and had lunch at the Old Forge…delicious, a lovely day out.

The whole area is beautiful and a joy to explore. We took the ferry from Mallaig to Skye which was a nice trip. We took our dog with us and there were some lovely walks for him. It was such a peaceful spot we enjoyed sitting on the decking looking out at the view.

Arisaig is a beautiful place and well worth a visit. The views are breathtaking and a gift for anyone who likes walking. I would recommend taking the train form the local train station to Fort William, which has incredible views along the way. There are other villages close by also worth visiting. Morar, for the wonderful beach and Mallaig, for the harbour and amenities.

Arisaig is a great base for exploring the Small Isles.

Arisaig is a great base for exploring the Small Isles. Passenger boats operate from Arisaig, but if you have a blue badge you can actually sail with Calmac from Mallaig which is just a few miles away, and by the way…the drive along the coast road from Arisaig to Mallaig is spectacular!! You can take your car to Eigg & Muck with Calmac if you apply for a permit a few months before your holiday dates. I did, and was able to see SO much more of these islands than if I just stayed at the village where the harbour is!! I’m led to believe that it’s possible to take your car to Canna & Rum, but they’re owned by the NTS and the person I phoned wasn’t very helpful! So I went as a passenger to Rum, but I didn’t know that the village on Rum is a mile away from the harbour, and being on crutches at the moment I found this walk extremely difficult….it took me an hour, and I was exhausted by the time I got there!!! Thankfully, the very kind lady at the shop gave me a lift back to the harbour when the ferry was due😄 You should know that the ‘road’ to the village is just an unmade track which runs mostly through trees, with only occasional views of the bay. So if you’re not a great walker there isn’t much to see on Rum! This experience left me wishing there were Landrover tours of the island operating from the harbour, for people who wouldn’t otherwise see much of Rum….and there is SO much beauty and wildlife to be seen there by all accounts!!!
