A short walk from this wonderful village is Lowther Castle and estate. Great walking from this village - you can walk over to Pooley Bridge over the fells - just brilliant. The local store was warm and friendly and for a village...
The local store was warm and friendly and for a village store exceptionally well stocked. The Queen's head across the road charged £23 for two drinks then at 9pm called it quits for the evening and hurried us up to leave, cleaning around us, cashing up then setting up for breakfast. A small very quiet village.
A small very quiet village. The pub we stayed in was the only place to stay and eat as the other one is currently closed. There is an open air swimming pool but we didnt use it, as it was fully booked. Askham Hall Gardens is a beautiful place with a lovely little cafe., well worth the small £4 entry fee.
