FAQs about hotels in Bath

Roman Ruins and Georgian Grandeur

Wonderful, World Heritage site Bath is an impressive mix of Georgian architecture and Roman legacy. Its most famous landmark is the fantastic, natural hot spring Roman Baths. Although everything above the pillar bases is from a later period, you still get an idea of its appearance in Roman times. Sadly you can’t bathe here, but across the street the rooftop pool at Thermae Bath Spa offers views of Bath Abbey and the surrounding hills.

Check out the stained-glass windows in the abbey, England’s last remaining Gothic church. Its square houses Pump Rooms dispensing hot spring water from the Roman baths.

Just behind, the Parade Gardens by the Avon River overlook Bath Rugby Club, the multi-level Pulteney Weir and registered historic Pulteney Bridge, lined with shops. Other Bath shopping options include Southgate Shopping Centre, the bohemian Walcot Street market, and brand-name stores on Milsom and George streets.

North is The Circus, a circular square lined with Georgian townhouses, only marginally less impressive than the Royal Crescent down the road. You can now visit number 1 Royal Crescent, restored to its 18th-century glory.

Before heading to Bristol Airport from your Bath hotel, take time to try the famous Sally Lunn Bun and stop at the pleasant pubs along the Kennet and Avon Canal.

Bath is superb for history from Roman time forward, easy to walk around and many historic buildings to visit. Many independent shops, cafes and restaurants in quaint streets. Everything very easy to walk to from Abbey to Royal Crescent. Bath also has many parks to walk and relax in near the centre. Every square had an artist performing, it was very lively and friendly. Rugby is a hot topic in Bath and the pitch is central to everything. Good bus and rail links.

Our primary reason for visiting Bath was to see friends and family so we didnt spend time in the town. Traffic is heavy and any vehicular journey appeared slow. The Canal-side walks were good and very pleasant in the sun

love BATH - it is a fabulous city to visit...strongly advise booking for the Baths in advance and we also booked a tour which was great. Also like the open air bus which I do wherever we go. We ate at Sotto Sotto which was very good. Enjoyed it all especially as the autumn colours were so glorious.

Beautiful city – two nights just wasn’t enough!

Beautiful city – two nights just wasn’t enough! We stayed central, and everything was within walking distance. We loved our time in Bath: relaxing at the Thermae Spa, exploring the Roman Baths, taking a boat ride from near Pulteney Bridge, and visiting the iconic crescent. There’s a fantastic range of shops and a lovely market to wander through, plus so many great places to eat. A highlight was The Raven – amazing pie and mash! We’ll definitely be back.

    We loved Bath.

We loved Bath. There is so much history there and in the surrounding areas. We were there for six days and found the city more enjoyable during the weekdays. The weekend was to crowded with tourists. Yes-I realize that we are tourists but you will have a nicer time if you can plan in a way that avoids them. I found it impossible to really see and enjoy the Roman Baths because of the large numbers of other people trying to do the same thing. The city is extremely walkable and the pedestrian only streets are amazing. Don’t miss a chance to go to Bath. You won’t regret it.

This is one of the best boutique hotels I have stayed at so far. It is in an old 18th century building but was recently renovated. The decour, the choice of colours (loved the royal blue with white), the finishing, the attention to detail - everything was superb. Our room faced the inner garden that added to the beauty of the place. The bed was super comfortable, there was also slippers and robes for the guests. The staff was very nice, helpful and responsive. When I am in Bath again, I will definitelystay in Kennard again!

Beautiful boutique hotel in the Town centre. The breakfast was great, many options to choose from at the downstairs café which was full of character. The next door pub wad also fun for a drink. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking at the nearby Waitrose, 2 min walk from the hotel was convenient. Our room was rather small but worked well for one night stay. Bed and linnen very comfortable. Bathroom was spacious and shower was great! Overall a great stay.
