    Boat of Garten is a small village which has some good features and services, including a pub, a village store, pizza shop, art gallery and historic railway station. It is well located in relation to forest walks and other outdoor activities. For any significant shopping you needs to travel nearby Aviemore, 4.5 miles away. We preferred the peace and quiet of Boat of Garten for our stay in the area.

    We stayed at the caravan on a self catering basis The caravan was very well equipped with all the necessary items needed for a short stay break The site was nice and quiet and situated within easy reach of the towns amenities and lovely rural walks Our break at Boat of Garten was only a few days long so we did not get much time to explore more of thd beautiful countryside

    Staff friendly and helpful, Beds, sheets and pillows lovely. convenient location near to local attractions and the iconic railway station. Nice outside area for sunny days and comfortable lounge for colder ones!

    Lovely little village, idyllic scenery.

    Lovely little village, idyllic scenery. Great location for nearby attractions and not as busy and touristy as nearby Aviemore. Next time I visit I will definitely consider again and stay a little longer to explore.

    Boat of Garten is just a small village in the Scottish Highlands there is a nice little restaurant 50yds away which serves excellent meals and a carry out fresh made Pizza facility, there is also a nice hotel about 400m away which serves excellent meals, well situated for the Osprey viewing observatory, close to Landmark adventure park, and not far from Aviemore highland resort.

    Owners where welcoming friendly the room was big and big bathroom with shower they supplied towels hair conditioner shampoo body wash a hair dryer there was coffee tea hot chocolate biscuits supplied by was adequate bedding n linen the breakfast was nice would go back if was in area

    Excellent base for a family holiday in the Highlands. Homely and comfortable with everything you need. After a small problem with the oven, the owners got it sorted out and the communication from them was spot on. Would highly recommend poppy lodge and will be re-booking for next year's holiday. Boat of Garten is perfectly placed if you like an active holiday with beautiful walks and bike tracks and five minutes from Aviemore.

    The property was very clean and had everything you may need for a break away! The beds we’re comfortable and it had all been organised with thought and care. The host was wonderful and replied quickly and politely to some questions we had before arriving. Boat of Garten is a lovely small place, we also enjoyed a walk in the local woods each night before bed! Hoping we can get another stay booked soon!

    Hotel is in a lovely location and our room overlooked the steam railway station. It is a short drive to Aviemore, amenities and lochs. Forest walks are located within minutes of the hotel and are peaceful with the chance of seeing some interesting wildlife. It is very nicely decorated and the facilities in our room were very good. Food at dinner and breakfast was well presented and delicious.

    Lovely atmosphere, really friendly welcome and lots of tips for our onward journey. Email received in advance with restaurant tips which we used to book Andersons seafood platter and had a great evening. Tea coffee and fridge and delicious banana cake on arrival! Breakfast great, lots of lovely fresh fruit, cooked breakfast etc.
