It was interesting spending the night in jail.
It was interesting spending the night in jail. The bed was super comfortable, but there wasn't much space in the room. But it was very quiet. The front desk staff was friendly and warm. The building is interesting, and a bit creepy. The restaurant was less than adequate. We ate both dinner and breakfast and our orders were messed up for both meals. A busy town and lots of traffic. Worth exploring, but I didn't have the time, other than looking at the old jail. Good mid-way stopping point if travelling further into Cornwall. The hotel served a very good breakfast and the evening meal was well prepared: the lamb that I had was beautifully cooked. The options for puddings were mainly cake-based and personally, I found my meringue option a tad sweet (as one might expect) with no pouring cream to calm it down!Guest review byAllanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

It’s looking tired but it’s the gateway to lots of other places. Plymouth is within reach maybe 40mins by car. The prison has the attraction of the museum with guided tours which are great fun The prison, now hotel is absolutely wonderful. Great gala night for new year with the best food ever. The Bodmin folk are so friendly and will advise on where to eat to suit your budget. The Eden project is a great trip to make even on a rainy day. The ultra-modern additions complement the historic architecture beautifully. Our room was extremely comfortable and the food was excellent. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the Bodmin jail attraction on our last day too.
